COLNAGO C72

I was invited out for the launch of the new Colnago C72, and from the start, it felt like more than just another product release. Colnago hosted the event inside Teatro alla Scala, which is about as iconic as it gets. Standing there, surrounded by the legacy of Giuseppe Verdi, Ludwig van Beethoven, and Giacomo Puccini, with the C72 at the center of it all—it honestly felt surreal.

Moments like this also remind me why our relationship with Colnago means so much to us at Signature Cycles. We’ve built a close connection with Colnago USA and CEO Brandt Ferguson and his team, and it’s always felt like we’re aligned in how we think about bikes.

There’s a deep respect for heritage there—but also a commitment to doing things the right way, without chasing every trend. That’s rare.

The official reveal happened on Wednesday, April 15th, alongside a small group of U.S. dealers. The C72 marks 72 years of Colnago, and it’s fully made in Italy at their Cambiago factory, which makes it feel even more special.

It wasn’t a packed, chaotic event—it was thoughtful. Time to connect, talk shop, and share ideas with people who genuinely care about the craft.

The Launch

The C72 was designed by lead engineer Davide Fumagalli, and what stood out right away is that it doesn’t follow the usual script. It’s not just about being lighter or more aero. Everything about it is built around how the bike feels when you ride it, and you notice that immediately.

Riding in Italy

I had the chance to ride a prototype for three days, and that’s really where it all clicked for me. Coming off my C68, the C72 feels more responsive—definitely a bit racier—but without losing that smooth, composed ride Colnago is known for. It handles switchbacks incredibly well, feels planted in corners, and just flows on the road in a way that’s hard to describe until you experience it. It’s fast, but it doesn’t feel harsh or overly aggressive. It just feels right.

Who it's for

To me, this isn’t a bike for someone chasing numbers. It’s for the rider who cares about how a ride feels.

If the Y1Rs or V5Rs are built for racing, the C72 is for enjoying the road—for long days, great routes, and that connection between rider and bike.

Honestly, riding it made me feel like a kid again.

Signature is the first shop in the country to have the C72

We’re excited to have the C72 here at the shop now—it’s available to come in and see up close.

It’ll also be the centerpiece of our shop opening on Friday, April 24th, and we’ll have someone from Colnago USA in-store if you want to dig deeper into the details.

If you’re curious about it, I’d definitely recommend stopping by. It’s one of those bikes you really need to see—and ride—to fully understand.
