Today’s BOTW is Bart’s Bastion Superleggera. Bart always causes a sweat for the SC team as his level of expectation is so high; we always have to bring our A game when he’s in town! Luckily we love challenges as they bring out the best of us, and this build is no exception.

The story of this bike starts back in 2019 on our road trip to Girona. Bart brought with him his latest Signature build; a Parlee Z0 with SRAM RED AXS groupset and Lightweight Meilenstein wheels. As we toured through the beautiful Catalan countryside, he was gliding through the tarmac like butter on his beautiful Parlee.
2 years later Bart returned to the shop asking “How can I improve my bike?” Our conversation naturally moved onto custom frames; who’s pioneering right now and where are the most exciting bikes being built. As a car enthusiast, Bart was particularly interested by the three Bastion founders, all ex-Toyota engineers who are bringing new state-of-the-art material techniques into the cycling industry.
Bastion’s lightest frame, the Superleggera is aimed at those who prefer a lighter, more lively ride. Built with a higher modulus carbon fibre throughout, this bike is stunningly fast. Convinced, we took Bart’s measurements from a bike fit, and sent the numbers over to Melbourne.
The result is unbeatable. Finished with a beautiful matte purple glow with satin lugs, the bike is simple in its elegance without being flashy. Bart wanted no logo’s on the bike, so this charming silhouette silently sneaks passed you on the road. It’s a bike for bike lovers, that gets silent nods of approval and the respect it deserves.
We appreciate Bart’s trust is choosing us to build this dream bike. His Parlee was built by Paul before Abraham and Ruedi took over; so it was a leap of faith for him letting us build his next bike. This has become one of our favourite builds of the year, pressure really does produce diamonds!
