Carlos's Passoni XXTi

This week we're proud to feature Carlos's Passoni XXTi.

Carlos loves Italian bicycles and has excellent taste.  It is no wonder his choice for a custom project with Signature was a Passoni XXTi.  Carlos wanted a clean aesthetic that respects the materials that make up the machine, so he chose to paint the fork orange but leave the Carbo-Titanium seat tube unpainted to echo the other parts of the bike that also feature a carbon weave such as the Darimo stem and handlebars. This is a bike that will always stand out with its classic lines combined with a modern approach to frame building.

The frame's joinery is filed and buffed to perfection.  The finishing process takes up to thirty hours of work by highly skilled artisans and produces a super clean look that makes the bicycle look as though it was born as opposed to assembled from tubes. Nobody makes a titanium bike like Passoni.

The seat tube is made of carbo-titanium, which involves weaving titanium filaments in the carbon fiber tube.  The technology was developed for the Pagani Huayra Roadster, and Passoni is the only bicycle manufacturer to incorporate this level of exclusive, highly guarded technology.

The high-grade titanium tubing used to create this bike is also nothing but the best.  The down tube is oversized and bi-ovalised for best power transfer.  The head tube is biconical in order to reduce weight and increase stiffness while also reducing frontal profile.  The oval chainstays are tapered and feature an S-bend.  All of these details require a lot of work and come together to promote ideal ride quality and a truly stunning look.

The Sram Red E1 group is a perfect choice for this beautiful machine.  It is the lightest electronic road group on the market and features updated shifter ergonomics that have the best braking power yet in a road shifter due to switching to a push-piston design which is similar to how mountain bike brakes function.  This allows for true one finger braking which means more confidence and control while descending.

The Campagnolo Hyperon Ultra wheelset is an ideal balance of low weight and aerodynamics.  The weight for the set is 1240g and the rim height is 37mm, making these an excellent choice for all-round performance.  The wheels are handmade and electronically inspected, ensuring the highest quality.
