In this week’s Bike of the Week we are featuring Frank's stealthy FiftyOne Sika. Recently rated as one of the best bikes for 2024, the Sika is designed to close the gap between a race bike and an all-around bike. The boutique brand from Dublin, Ireland describes it as “a cutting-edge road bike that delivers top-level performance in a package tailored for real riders, not for pros. It combines feathery lightness, high stiffness and sleek aero with a less extreme position, confident handling and clearance for 40mm tires.”

FiftyOne used its experience of building hundreds of custom bikes to devise the Sika’s geometry, which features a “real-world stack height”. This makes it super easy to work with, allowing a wide range of riders to find a perfect fit.
Frank is an experienced Colombian cyclist that was looking for the type of bike that will allow him to train on all types of terrain but also allow him to participate in spirited rides. Returning from the Giro de Rigo in Colombia where Frank finished top 10% in his age category, he’s not a stranger to fast-paced rides and long endurance events. His aspirations for the bike were clear: it should be light, it should be comfortable and, most importantly, it should allow him to ride on all types of terrain like the ones we can find in Colombia. He wanted to avoid big brand names and he wanted something understated.
The FiftyOne Sika has everything that Frank was looking for. At 60-plus years old, it was hard to provide an experienced rider like him with a bike that would blow his mind.

However, the Sika has done exactly that, and Frank reports that he feels like he is back in his 20s with his new bike. Mind blown.
Based around a superlight frame weighing 690g in a size medium, Frank’s bike came out at 16.6lb fully built up with Shimano Ultegra Di2. He likes the performance and the style of the ENVE SES 5.6 wheels, which give the bike a bigger profile and a very sleek aesthetic with the ENVE black decals.
Frank is planning to take his new bike back with him to Colombia and teach this Irish bike some Spanish. We wish Frank many more happy miles and experiences with his amazing new machine.
