This week we're featuring Jack's Custom Scarab Santa Rosa.

Jack came to Signature because he has been getting more serious about the sport since starting his bike journey in 2019.  After a fit session and thorough consultation involving frame material, ride characteristics, aesthetics and finding the perfect balance of performance to value, we landed on an excellent pairing that is more than the sum of its parts.

Jack's first full custom geometry bike is an impressively stylish piece.  The frameset was custom made in Colombia by Scarab Cycles.  This is the first Scarab we've seen that is fully fillet brazed, which is a style of joinery that involves adding molten brass and then sculpting that brass with a hand file and a lot of emery cloth until the joints are perfectly smooth.  It is a time consuming process, the result is stunning, and the experience required to pull off this style is extensive.  Only an accomplished metal worker can produce this level of art.

The custom paint job is also exceptionally tasteful.  The main color is a gloss "black met" with plenty of extra fine metal flake so it sparkles in the sunlight.  The logo color is a gloss grey/white which stands out in high contrast to the main color so there can be no confusion about who made this bike.  Finally, the Coy Fish is probably my favorite part of the paint job, not only because of how good it looks and how well Scarab was able to replicate the design, but because Jack has the same artwork on his arm.  What an incredibly personal touch, and it looks amazing.

Congratulations Jack!  Thanks for trusting us with designing and building your dream bike.
