This week we are featuring Jim's Scarab Cycles gravel bike.

Jim is a returning client who we helped to create a new, custom road bike in 2022 and this year came back with the idea of joining us on some of our gravel rides. With so many great options of frame builder, groupset and gravel specific finishing kit, we knew it was going to fun helping Jim to start his gravel adventure.

03 Body

After discussing various options, Jim decided for the Paramo model made by Scarab Cycles. The frame made entirely in Colombia and designed to provide the ultimate ride, something a steel frame is perfectly adept for. Scarab use a blend of Columbus Reynolds tubing along with an ENVE gravel carbon fork, which all adds up to an ultra-smooth ride.

With an aim of tackling the local trails, we discussed gear ratios and tire choices at length to create the perfect solution. The Shimano GRX Di2 40T with a 11-42 cassette paired with a set of Pirelli Cinturato H Tires was decided on. This set up will fly over mixed hard pack gravel and flat surfaces, perfect for the Greenwich scene.

We absolutely love this special paint scheme, which Jim carefully selected after exploring many options. The Royal Blue with gold ‘Hojas de Cafe’ (coffee leaves) is certainly eye catching.

10 End

Every detail on this bike; from the paint to the gear ratio to the handmade Colombian frame, this bike is perfection. We are confident that this Scarab will provide Jim with plenty of new gravel adventures.
