JOHAN'S FIFTYONE ASSASSIN

Today’s BOTW is Johan’s FiftyOne Assassin who has just field tested his new bike at the self supported, week-long gravel race in Colombia; Transcordilleras.

With so many things temporarily shut down over the pandemic, cycling’s popularity exploded as people found a new appreciation for the great outdoors. Johan was one of them and has really fallen in love with the sport since.

Now that the bike market has settled, he wanted to treat himself with a properly fitted high performance bicycle. Having been on a few local gravel rides, Johan was convinced gravel is the road (or pathway!) he wanted to go down when we shared our experience at the Unbound race. The versatility mixed with the elegant design and slick racing green caught his eye, and after a fitting and brief component conversation, a new FiftyOne Assassin was born.

This bike has gotten a baptism of fire as one of its first trips was a bike packing race through Colombia’s most beautiful landscapes.

Joining Signature’s technician Andrés, the race crossed the 3 great Colombian mountain ranges over 3 days. As one of the most geographically complex countries in the world and one of the most biodiverse on the planet, both rider and bike will have been tested to the limits!
