Co-Owner Abraham Soler writes about this extra special BOTW

2022 marked the 10-year anniversary for me and my wife, Karen. We decided to commemorate this special occasion with custom bikes made of steel!

I meet Karen at a local bike shop in Manhattan where I was a salesperson and she was the client that kept coming back so I could help her put air in her tires. We shared a love for cycling and enjoyed those Central Park loops after work. We also loved a good glass of wine and the variety of food that only a city like New York can provide.

The frame choice was pretty clear, it had to be made by the Colombian manufacturer Scarab Cycles(and it had to be pink!).

The paint job of this bike is very unique as it is a limited edition paint scheme by Scarab Cycles:

“This pattern design was born in collaboration with its creator Alex Kliment, it arose from an inspiration by the city of New York, and given the opportunity, it turned out to be the idea of painting it on a Scarab bike”-Scarab Cycles

We adopted the Kliment idea and made it unique with some personal touches. For example, we added the NYC skyline, a heart with the Colombian and American flags to represent our nationalities, a glass of wine on the fork, and our wedding rings along with the word “Mom” on the top tube.

We wanted to keep the bike light and since it is a steel frame, we wanted to keep it traditional with regular rim brakes. All put together, the bike weighs only 16.9 lbs.

Many thanks to the team at Scarab Cycles for helping us with this project, We are looking forward to another decade of riding as a family, because a family that rides together, stays together!

Stay tuned to see part two of this project, I cant wait to receive my very own custom steel bike directly from Colombia.
