In this week’s bike of the week we’re showcasing Rich's Mosaic – an all-titanium custom gravel bike with some beautiful and unique features.

It was great to see Rich walking into the shop again after a few years away: it had been quite a while since the last time we worked with him on a custom bike, but we have a great history of creating one-of-a-kind projects with him.

This time, Rich arrived with a clear idea of what he had in mind for his next adventure. He and his son have been getting into gravel biking on the West Coast and it was his son actually who had recommended him to look into Mosaic Cycles for his new build.

He already knew about Mosaic’s reputation for high-end quality and the level of craftsmanship the team was pushing out of their factory in Boulder CO. The brand has been dominating the gravel scene with their beautiful custom titanium bikes, most recently with the victory of Brennan Wertz at the US Gravel National Championships, and the idea of a full titanium gravel bike was inspiring for Rich.

After a brief fit review, we sat down to talk about the details. The Mosaic GT-1 iAR was a clear target, thanks to its super clean look with all the wires and hoses integrated into the frame via the ENVE In-Route stem and headset. Not only that – a full titanium frame is something unique, bringing a level of smoothness that is totally unparalleled. Some might say Ti has a ride feel that’s similar to steel, which it is true, but it also has that lower weight that can make it sharper and more responsive – a perfect blend for the gravel roads.

At the time when Rich was at our studio, we were preparing our own custom bike to take with us to the ENVE Grodeo. He loved the camo style of the paint job we’d chosen and decided to adapt it for his own bike and extend it by adding some color to the seatpost, fork and even the Silca pump. To take the beautiful paint scheme to the next level, we asked our friend Tom Sturdy from Sturdy Cycles if he could add some color to the 3D printed chainring. The result is above category.

To complete the dream gravel bike, we selected the new SRAM Eagle wireless 1x group with the 10-52 cassette, updated SRAM Red shifters and 3D-printed Sturdy cranks. Along with a set of Lightweight Pfadfinder wheels with Pirelli Cinturato M 45 tires, this beautiful bike is ready to carry Rich in ultimate style and supreme comfort over any type of gravel. There are beautiful bikes out there, but Rich's Mosaic is like no other!
