Ruedi's Scarab Paramo CDS

This week we're featuring Ruedi's Scarab Paramo CDS.

When envisioning a bike for a cyclist who already owns a top-tier bike for every category they enjoy, the question becomes, "What's next?"

Ruedi wanted a gravel bike for riding on Martha's Vineyard, which has some great gravel trails.  He also wanted something different from his other gravel bike, a Bastion Crossroads, which is already a superbly capable gravel race machine with outstanding style and an excellent paint job.

To deliver something different but equally thrilling to ride and behold, we knew this project had to go above and beyond.  Looking to the future while considering current trends in gravel racing, we designed this bike to be compliant and smooth, offering clearance for ample rubber and even 60mm of front suspension.

Scarab builds the Paramo with Columbus Spirit and Life tubing to achieve exquisite riding characteristics, durability, and low weight.  This custom geometry steel frame also features the Colibri Damping System - a carbon fiber seat tube and integrated seat mast that looks great, lowers the frame's overall weight, and smooths out bumps.

The amazing paint job resulted from a collaboration between Ruedi and Natalia from Scarab.  It is a vertical fade of two color-shifting chameleon paints: blue/green on top fading into blue/purple on the bottom.  Pictures cannot do it justice because it shows different colors when viewed from different angles. 

Around the time we finished designing this bike, Campagnolo serendipitously released the Super Record 1X13 gravel platform and Bora X wheels, making them the obvious choice for a rider who wants the perfect gravel bike.
