Vadim's Scarab Santa Rosa

This week we are featuring a "one of a kind" project for our client Vadim.

Vadim is possibly one of the most experienced riding clients. He came to our studio a few year back looking for a new bike that will allow him to achieve his Paris-Brest-Paris goal comfortably and efficiently. After our fitting session, it was clear a custom bike would provide Vadim the perfect balance between endurance, performance and comfort. That year, Vadim achieved his goal successfully with the help of a custom titanium bike by Passoni Cycles.

A few years later and thousands of miles later, Vadim was looking for a bike to train and use a different type of muscle group that would complement his training for ultra endurance events. He wanted a fixed geared bike but it also had to be custom, smooth and comfortable.

After reviewing our portfolio of partners, the steel frame made by Scarab Cycles "Santa Rosa" was a clear candidate, however, we needed to make sure it could be used as a fixed geared bike. A brief conversation with the founder and owner of Scarab Cycles Santiago Toro confirmed their experience with these type of project. Thanks to the help of Paragon Machine Works and their horizontal dropouts for the rear wheel, the project took off and became a reality.

Vadim also wanted a clear frame with all the wires hidden inside the frame. Scarab was prepared for that request thanks to the In-route system by ENVE Composites. the frame features a 44mm head tube with internal wiring and disc brakes capabilities.

The hus are also very special, they are fixed geared hubs with center lock disc brakes provided by Paul Components. We laces the hubs on a set of ENVE 2.2 carbon rims to keep the weight low and the ride smooth.

The crank is also something unique, a CNC crank made by 1x chainring by Ingrid Components in Italy.

Vadim is training for a 3000km challenge in Italy in August and we are happy to report that thanks to his training with the Scarab fixed geared bike. He is more than ready!
