This week we’re featuring Nick’s new gravel bike, the ENVE MOG.

If you’ve been following us recently, you may know by now that Nick is one of our Ambassadors for the 2023 season. He’s a gravel expert, with some of the most gruelling events under his belt. For more info about Nick, check out our interview with him, where he goes into his cycling story and goals for 2023.

Nick has been fitted by us before, acquiring an ENVE Melee to put to the test at the Belgian Waffle Ride California, the writeup from which you can read here. This month, Nick was due to return to UNBOUND, the race he picked as his 2022 favourite, and wanted to test ENVE’s latest model, the MOG. As one of the toughest, most tire-shredding rides of the US calendar, this would truly put the MOG through its paces.

Here’s Nick’s review of the bike:

“The gravel scene has been growing rapidly and so has the pointy end of the race. The rides are faster and the groups can be large, rolling rapidly through chunky gravel with limited view. What’s important in these conditions? Stability and tire volume.

I chose the MOG because it has loads of tire clearance and is as stable at speed as any bike I’ve ridden. With clearance for 50c tires I was able to run a 44c rubber with a lot of space for the gnarly mud encountered at Unbound Gravel.

I really like the ENVE SES AR handlebar. It’s comfortable and has a lot of vibration dampening. I’ve ridden Unbound three times now and I’ve experienced hand numbness on the first two that lasted weeks. I only experienced slight tingling that went away in a few days this year.

The internal frame storage is useful for keeping my flat kit and extra tools protected from the elements. Fortunately, I only had one flat that was easy to plug and inflate. Racing tip: keep your dynaplug and a CO2 in your pocket for quick access.”

As a rider of such high calibre, it takes a lot to impress Nick. We were really happy to be able to help in improving his performance, and we can’t wait to see him using the MOG on many more gravel adventures to come.
