RUSSELL'S FIFTYONE ASSASSIN

This week we're featuring Russell’s FiftyOne Assassin.

This was a special project for us. From the very first moment Russell walked in the shop he had a clear intention in mind, to finish the UNBOUND Gravel 200, one of the most challenging and rewarding gravel events on the US calendar.

It was clear this build was going to be a challenge. At 6’6 tall, finding Russell a stock bike that worked perfectly would not be easy, especially after scheduling a fit and discovering his current bike did not fit him! With only 4 weeks until the event, we were up for the task.

Abraham had used the FiftyOne Assassin at UNBOUND in 2022 and fortunately the XL frame was able to fit Russell’s measurements. A tough frame, the Assassin was built to sustain the abuse that a 200+ mile gravel event would demand. Once it gets on the gravel, it shines like a road bike does on the pavement. It’s stable, comfortable and efficient; qualities that are very hard to find on a stock bike.

Having finished UNBOUND ourselves, we know how demanding it is, not only for the rider but the bike and components also. We used the SRAM Force/Eagle “Mullet” Setup with a 44t chainring and 10-50 cassette, along with Pirelli Cinturato M 700x45c tires. This is Russell’s first time using electronic components and he hasn't looked back.

We’re happy to report that Russell loves his bike and finished UNBOUND in under 18 hours, in some of the hardest conditions in the history of the event!
