This week, we’re featuring a client's exquisitely tailored Seven Cycles 622xx, fine-tuned to perfection. This build was time-intensive because the client had very particular tastes in colour, design, and aesthetics. But perfection cannot be rushed, and the outcome was a truly beautiful bespoke build.

The client is an avid cyclist and a New York Cycling Club member, spending most of her time riding in Central Park and 9W. She knew her riding style well, and wanted to tailor her position for maximum performance. So, finding the right fit was the first step in creating the ultimate bike for this client. Once this step had been established, the next step was to find the best manufacturer for the her needs – sometimes easier said than done.

With so many options available, it can be difficult to pick a favourite, but luckily, this client knew that she wanted a titanium frame, thanks to its durability. However, she also desired something lightweight, which led her to add carbon fibre to the frame. After considering her wants and needs, the Seven Cycles 622xx frame emerged as the clear choice. Handmade in Watertown, Massachusetts, since 1997, Seven Cycles produces exceptionally crafted titanium and titanium-carbon frames. At Signature Cycles, we truly appreciate the detail and hard work that goes into making one of their beautiful frames.

The 622xx frame, in particular, takes the most time to craft, with every lug being hand-cut and polished to provide the perfect ride quality. Moreover, the frame is as light as most full carbon frames on the market, making it the ideal fusion of durability and lightweight for this client's desires.

Choosing a manufacturer can be challenging, but selecting the perfect paint scheme is an even more daunting task. The colorway and design of the paint job often stem from inspiration, requiring either a clear vision or a rough idea of the final look. However, the ultimate success of the project relies heavily on trusting the painter or artist to bring the envisioned product to life.

For this particular client, visualising the desired paint scheme wasn't effortless. Yet, with the aid of our extensive catalogue showcasing various projects, she found inspiration in the other carbon/titanium-lugged frames and paint samples from an Italian manufacturer. After much discussion, we collaborated with Ron Jones at Pro Bike Design to ensure an exquisite custom paint job which went above and beyond her expectations.

The final step in crafting a bespoke bike is selecting the components, and for this client, achieving superior shifting quality was a priority. Transitioning from mechanical shifting on her previous bike, she sought a system that offered consistency and intuitive operation. After careful consideration of her budget and available options, we opted for the SRAM Force AXS wireless groupset, featuring a 10-36 cassette paired with a 45/33 crankset. This choice provides her with the ultimate road bike gear combination, offering endless possibilities for her riding adventures.

To complete the build, we fitted the bike with the Zipp 303s wheelset. Not only does this wheelset boast a stunning appearance, but it also enhances the overall riding experience, delivering a perfect balance of aesthetics and performance.

Overall, we are thrilled with the outcome of this project, and above all, we are delighted that this client has discovered their ideal riding companion. Crafting a bike can demand considerable patience and decision-making, but the end result is always spectacular. We have full confidence that this partnership will endure for a lifetime, bringing joy and fulfilment to every ride.
