This week we’re featuring Tim’s new FiftyOne Disc.

Tim is one of our best clients, an excellent rider who’s even joined us on some of our trips abroad. He has a wonderful bicycle collection, from a custom made Firefly, to a Richard Sachs bicycle and a Colnago V3Rs, among many more beautiful bikes.

Tim is also an experienced cyclist, having raced back in the day. He understands deeply how a bike should handle and respond, from many years and many thousands of miles in the saddle. He’s also one of our only clients who asks for the “European” brake set up, with the front brake on the right hand, a setup that many experienced cyclists prefer.

Tim was looking for a fast, quick handling bike that matched his fit geometry perfectly. Having had the opportunity to meet FiftyOne’s founder, Aidan Duff, a few years ago, he knew that he wanted to properly test FiftyOne, and see what they have to offer.

After a couple of introductory conversations and fittings to optimize Tim’s position, we had long discussions about paint finishing ideas and componentry. The core idea behind the project was simple: Tim was looking for a light, fun bike to climb mountains in Europe, but also comfortable and stable enough for a multi-day trip if needed. The FiftyOne team rose wonderfully to this challenge.

The details are what make this bike; the ideal balance and weight distribution, a top tube with a minimal top tube angle, seat post exposure greater than the head tube length, and seat tube and head tube angles that work perfectly with each other.

The paint job is also not to be ignored, an absolutely stunning two-colour combination determined by Tim himself. An Aston Martin inspired British Racing green, blended with a rich red-brown and complimented by exposed carbon details; the result is absolutely fantastic. We love every detail of this bike, from the ENVE integrated cockpit, to the painted bottle cages and computer mounts. The cabling is fully routed internally, making sure to not take any spotlight away from the stunning paintwork.

Helping clients like Tim realise their cycling dreams is our mission, and we’re extremely happy to be able to deliver these kinds of results.
