The creation of Aidan Duff, FiftyOne was founded in Dublin, Ireland in 2016. As a former international rider, Aidan was used to riding on frames fitted to his dimensions, and founded FiftyOne as a way to bring that totally custom experience to consumers.
Whilst FiftyOne have been making custom road bikes since their inception, they have never made a fully custom Gravel bike. We have been in constant communication with them to collaborate on this bike, and couldn’t be happier with the results.
We wanted to create this custom bike for a number of reasons. Firstly, we absolutely love the way a FiftyOne carbon frame feels on the road. They’re quick, stiff, comfortable and incredibly efficient; Aidan and his team in Dublin have really created something special. The construction and manipulation of carbon fibre in their frames have surpassed the expectations of so many of our clients. The addition of their stock gravel model, the Assassin, placed the Irish manufacturer among the best options on the market. We've featured Assassins before on BOTW, like Russell's UNBOUND tested Assassin, or Luis' stealthy, all black build. It was time to blend FiftyOne's custom road and stock gravel models, and create a new custom gravel option.
The bike uses the same carbon tubes on the front triangle that you’d find one their custom road bike, but the rear triangle has been completely re-designed to clear up to a 47c tire. It also has a drop-stay, so that we can use a shorter chainstay and keep a tight chain line for better shifting and acceleration.
This beautiful bike was launched at the Builder’s Round-up event at the ENVE HQ in Utah, coinciding with the Grodeo, their yearly gravel race. We incorporated ENVE into this bike, using the ENVE integrated fork / stem / handlebar and headset, keep a refined and modern look.
A distinctive paint job, the bike’s look is rooted in our brand mission here at Signature. When we work with a client to discover their abilities, capabilities and desires, what we can deliver is something truly unique, like the DNA of that cyclist. The vertical lines and patterns we use are an expression of this, based on contemporary ways that DNA is visualised.
This bike will be displayed at our store in Greenwich, CT and will be available as a demo bike for anyone who wants to take it for a ride and experience the amazing riding qualities it has to offer!
