This week, we’re featuring a very special, limited edition S-Works Aethos, built for LuisFe.

Sometimes, an owner chooses their bike, and sometimes a bike chooses its owner. In the case of this stunning, limited edition S-Works Aethos, as soon as we heard about it, we knew exactly the right owner. LuisFe has been looking for an ultra-light bike, and for a road bike that wouldn’t be a compromise on quality, stability and durability. A tough challenge for any bike, but one that the Aethos passes with flying colours.

We’ve had the pleasure of working with the ground-breaking Aethos frameset before, like David’s striking flat-bar bike, and it’s been a real joy every time. For some background on the bike, the Aethos is the current lightest production road bike frame in the world, weighing in at just 585g, due in part to a totally new carbon lay-up technique developed just for this bike, which does away with the need for extra stiffness layers. The bike is balanced and stiff, with Specialized’s extensive research into frame forces and dynamics producing a class-leading road bike.

Whilst an Aethos is already a very special frameset, this edition takes it a step further. A tribute to Italian bike manufacturing, each limited edition frame is unique, hand-dipped to resemble Carrara marble (an humorous choice from Specialized, given the contrast between the weight of marble and the weight of this frame). This is of course paired with Italian components, using the latest and greatest from Campagnolo, a Super Record wireless group and the latest Hyperon wheelset. We’ve found that Campagnolo groupsets on stock bikes are becoming rarer; 15+ years ago it was seen on a Cannondale model, the CAAD 7, but only very occasionally since then.

The reason for this unique build from Specialized is to pay tribute to the surprisingly Italian origins of the brand. Specialized was founded by Mike Sinyard back in the late 1970s, after a trip riding in Italy inspired his love for Italian components, becoming a key US importer of Cinelli bikes and components. This build, limited to 300 bikes worldwide, pays homage to Mike’s love of riding and Italy’s riding culture. LuisFe’s model is number 151.

With ceramic bearings and S-Works Turbo cotton tires, this bike is ready for every climb, road or group ride you could ever face, with speed and light-footed acceleration to rival any bike currently on the market.

We’re extremely proud to have been able to fulfil LuisFe’s cycling dreams, and secure this extremely sought-after bike for him. How is the bike? Well, if you see him riding around Greenwich CT, the smile on his face will say it all.
